COE Interview: Kåre Lindberg
edit by Jonas Hansson
Kåre Lindberg is one of our favorite skaters out in Copenhagen Denmark. Kåre is one of those guys who skates so clean and effortless, he has the sickest true spin tricks for sure! When he came out here in California I tried to learn a little Danish, when I actually met him he spoke English well enough to where I wouldn’t of even known he was Danish. And for those who aren’t sure how to pronounce his name its sounds like “core” as in “hardcore.” We first seen him skate in the film by Jonas Hansson named Flygt. I cant wait to someday fly out there and hit up the Copenhagen scene.

How long have you been skating?
I’ve been skating for 11 years I think. Half of my life.
How was it like growing up skating in Denmark?
Growing up skating in DK has been awesome. I live in Copenhagen and there’s a fairly big scene with really dedicated rollerbladers who are all really good friends. Everybody sessions and hang out with everybody. The blading scene in DK as I see it has been very small for a long time, but now we have a skateshop again (skatepro.dk) and it looks as if more and more people are paying attention and getting into blading.
How was your first trip to the U.S.?
My first trip to US was to NY with my class. It was in whats similar to highschool. I was there for a week and didn’t really do much apart from all the tourist stuff.
But I was recently in California which was DOPE! I loved it there and I’m hoping to go back sometime. Met a lot of good people and got to skate some good stuff. Park and street. Oh yeah and mexican food kicks ass.
How many snap back hats did you buy at the Lakewood mall in California?
12
Are you going to have a section in jonas Hanssons new film?
I think. Not sure if Jonas i gonna make it a section section video but yeah I’m filming for it whenever the cold wet danish weather gives us a chance. But we will keep filming through out this summer.
I really like the tunes in your edits, what music artist are you listening to these days?
The tunes from my edits were actually picked out by Jonas himself. I just “approved” afterwards. But lately I’ve been listening to a lot of different rock music like the black keys, the black lips, ultimate spinach, the cure, siouxsie and the banshees so on and so forth. In general I listen to a lot of different genres.
Are you planning on any new things for 2010? Traveling?
I’m going to Paris in april to film with Jonas. Besides that I don’t really have anything planned out but this coming spring and summer is definitely for traveling. I will probably make my way around different parts of europe.
Do you have any favorite skaters right now?
I don’t think I have one favorite skater. I think are so many to get inspired by. Rollerblading is good right now. A lot of good styles and a lot of diversity.
